Visual Inspection

Visual Examination is the most widely used method in the nondestructive testing industry.  At Vital Inspection, all of our technicians perform visual inspection on a daily basis.  All thorough NDT inspections begin with a visual.  This is the reason that our technicians are given a training program that is specifically designed for Level II Visual Inspection.

 

VIP also has on staff several AWS CWI inspectors.  These are individuals who have been tested through the American Welding Societies’ Certified Welding Inspector Program.  This is a national certification that is recognized around the world in high regard for visual inspectors.  These individuals are thoroughly trained and experienced in the fabrication and welding industry.

 

There is a wide range of needs for visual inspectors in today’s welding industry.  Some of these needs include: Third party witness of weld test (welder qualification and procedure qualification testing), Quality Control duties during plant shutdowns, Quality Assurance duties in fabrication shops, etc.

WELDING PROCEDURAL DEVELOPMENT

Another service that we provide at Vital Inspection is the development of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS’).  These are written procedures that spell out all of the essential variables for a given welding application.  These are a required document for most of the codes followed in today’s welding industry (ASME, AWS, or API for example).  We can perform the code required testing on these procedures, and all of the required documentation which is included on a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR).  We also have the welding equipment and facilities to accommodate weld testing at our shop.

LEVEL III SERVICES

We have two ASNT Level III’s on staff.  Our nationally certified NDT Level III’s can prepare nondestructive testing procedures to fit the individual needs of our clients.  We also provide NDT training courses in all of the common NDT methods upon request.  These courses can be at our facility or yours.  All of the training courses given meet or exceed the requirements of The American Society for Nondestructive Testing’s Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A.
